White Otter Castle - North Western Ontario
15U E 0579441 N 5447090
Again,
Canoe Canada was our outfitter for a return journey to the White Otter Castle. The weather for one whole day was glorious: maybe it was too glorious as it was very hot. We reached the Castle after a full day and set up camp in a big stand of huge red pines. That night we were "treated" to a spectacular lightning show and a torrential downpour. A lot of tents had little rivers running through them.
The return part of the trip was somewhat wet. However we pushed through to the end in one very full day and were fortunate enough to be able to spend the last night in Canoe Canada's bunkhouse. Nobody really wanted to make camp in the rain and then sleep in wet gear.
It was a great trip with a wide range of weather. The students, unknown to each other prior to the trip surely learned about their classmates on this trip! All those who took part in the trip should be very proud of their accomplishment.

Horizons Unlimited - Churchill River Canoe Outfitters
From 06 June to 02 July Rod was on a canoe trip in Northern Saskatchewan, a bi-annual event. Most of the route was on or close to the Churchill River. CRCA (Canadian Recreational Canoeing Association)Instructor Certification took place and we also spent time training in a rapid called "Surf City". It was very exciting.
Click the image below to see a "Surfing" video. To surf in a rapid, the canoe is pointed upstream and if situated correctly, you don't have to paddle, you only need to steer.

Dragon Boat Festival
Between 23 and 24 July the Tourism & Travel - Adventure & Ecotourism program entered a team in the annual Dragon Boat Festival.
West Jet
Our students took part in a tour at the WestJet facility at the Thunder Bay Airport. A Boeing 737 was on the tarmac.

Airline Livery
Some airlines have fun with their livery (paint schemes).Below, in order left to right, top to bottom are; A Christmas themed Boeing 737 in Northern Canada, a Toronto Raptor themed A320, an employee signed A320, and an A319 in the 60th anniversary TCA livery.
